While the steps to follow are different for each size and type of organization, some are universal and they represent the core of any business plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Analyze the Previous Year\u2019s Performance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common place to start an annual review is the company\u2019s financial performance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li><span><strong>Were the expected profits achieved?<\/strong><\/span><\/li><li><span><strong>Were expenses on target, over, or under budget?<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Answering these general questions requires a deep analysis of what caused an increase in profits or where the company\u2019s expenses increased or decreased. The objective is not to make a judgment but to look at these items from a different perspective in order to improve decision-making in the coming year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the figures have been analyzed, it is time to go deeper into a qualitative analysis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li><span>What are the things that worked well?<\/span><\/li><li><span>What were the achievements?<\/span><\/li><li><span>What were the lessons learned?<\/span><\/li><li><span>Where are we standing on the customer side?<\/span><\/li><li><span>What did not work?<\/span><\/li><li><span>What was the biggest challenge?<\/span><\/li><li><span>What changes need to be made?<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep Your Feet on the Ground<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have established the goals to be accomplished in the new year, it is important to determine the company\u2019s position in relation to them. <strong>Sales results are a way to measure performance, but success can mean many things. It all comes down to what success means to each company.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Money is probably an important factor, but it is also helpful to think about concepts like community engagement, sustainability, and employee benefits. <strong>Striving to meet the vision, mission, and values of the company is essential.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Measure Success<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is necessary to create specific deadlines for every stage of the plan.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Annual planning is the map for the new year. It needs milestones (deadlines, success metrics) that move the company forward through a series of smaller goals that will lead to a larger objective, which is the point that the business must reach by the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Flexibility is important<\/strong>.
