Its economy is mainly based on IT, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/advance-realestate.com.amatedigital.mx\/adblog\/en\/key-aspects-of-the-aeronautical-industry-in-queretaro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aeronautics<\/a><\/strong>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/advance-realestate.com.amatedigital.mx\/adblog\/en\/the-growth-of-the-automotive-industry-in-the-bajio-region\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>auto parts<\/strong><\/a> sectors. The IT sector has boomed in recent years and <strong>Quer\u00e9taro is now the main destination in Mexico for the arrival of foreign and local data centers.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outlook<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to SEDESU (Sustainable Development Agency), <strong>there are currently 10 data centers in Quer\u00e9taro, with 18 more on the way. <\/strong>Marco Antonio del Petre, Secretary of Sustainable Development, has recently mentioned that investments in this market will reach $8.5 billion USD, which is roughly the same amount received by the state in foreign direct investment in the last decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CBRE Group\u2019s Global Data Center 2023 study ranks Quer\u00e9taro as the preferred location for data center development in Mexico. With data centers already located in several municipalities and with about 76 industrial parks, the state has become a critical link between Mexico City and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Santiago Suinaga, CEO of KIO Data Centers, has mentioned that <em><strong>\u201cQuer\u00e9taro is a state that will continue to grow as a technological center by receiving more investments in this type of infrastructure.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Reasons<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Quer\u00e9taro has several characteristics that make it an ideal destination for data centers, especially for hyperscalers such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. They are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span>Abundant power supply from CFE (Federal Electricity Commission).<\/span><\/li><li><span>Governmental support from SEDESU, the government agency in charge of economic development in the State of Quer\u00e9taro.<\/span><\/li><li><span>Proximity to the main economic centers, especially Mexico City.<\/span><\/li><li><span>Fiber optic connectivity and backbone networks in the region.<\/span><\/li><li><span>Low probability of natural disasters, especially earthquakes.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also worth mentioning that due to the magnitude of the investments being made in Quer\u00e9taro, the <strong>State Government will invest $292.7 million USD in the strengthening of the electricity network.<\/strong> The project includes the installation of 75 kilometers of high-voltage lines with a capacity of 115 kW and two electrical substations with a capacity for 1,425 MVA, among others. This will ensure sufficient power supply in Quer\u00e9taro for the next decade. The project will be carried out in the municipalities of Col\u00f3n, El Marqu\u00e9s, Huimilpan, Pedro Escobedo, and San Juan del R\u00edo, in order to better distribute power service throughout the state.
