Aerospace industry considerations in Mexico

In 2020, however, the crisis that affected most industrial sectors significantly hit civil-commercial aviation and aircraft demand. The industry experienced production drops1 between 25% and 45% compared to the levels reached in 2019.
This is shown in the thousands of direct jobs losses and exports that decreased considerably regarding 2019, but it’s planning to maintain a good recovery pace during 2022. The sector expects a return to the industry’s employment, production, and export rates in 2019 by 2023.
Boosting professional training in aerospace engineering
With the sector’s main leaders developing operations in the country (General Electric, Bombardier, Honeywell, and Airbus, among others) and five strong entities in the production of aeronautical and aerospace technology, Mexico is betting on professional training as a strategy to achieve the growth goals projected for the future.
This promotion of university and technical education has been concentrated mostly in Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Queretaro, and Nuevo Leon, areas with many components plants related to this industry.
